Meshwork
Pittsburgh Visual Music Festival
February 25 — 28, 2027 | Pittsburgh, PA
Experiments in new media, sonic arts, and animation.
Meshwork is a festival of visual music in Pittsburgh, tracing spaces where sound and image converge, movement becomes signal, and bodies meet machines. Across performance, cinema, animation, installation, and computational art, artists and audiences meet within a shifting meshwork, where disciplines collide, known forms dissolve, and new relations emerge. Visual music is not a genre, but a field in motion—shaped by sensation, technology, memory, and encounter. Meshwork opens onto new perceptual possibilities: to listen with the eyes, see through sound, and imagine what emerges between. Founded and directed by Johannes DeYoung and Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, with support from Carnegie Mellon University College of Fine Arts, Meshwork gathers artists and audiences to expand embodied audiovisual experience and reimagine what visual music can become.
